finding my way again.

here you go dad.

my dad keeps bugging me to write down all the thoughts i have bouncing around for my life. well i guess i'll do it on my blog since i can't seem to write about anything else anymore and because i dont have any journals with me at the moment.

so this blog has now become a space for me to write about my career dilemma since i think everyone in my life is sick of me talking about it. first kristen, then me. i guess i can understand being really tired of hearing about the same old thing.

thoughts on my career:

-i used to want to do something "meaningful" and now i'm not so sure. what is meaningful anyway? when you think about it, a lot of things are meaningful. maybe every career is meaningful.
-i used to want to work with adults. HA. adults are mean. but, i have never ever ever ever worked with children/teens/adolescents a day in my life, so shouldn't that mean something? i never babysat, i never worked at camps. i worked at a day care for 1 day and quit because it was the worst experience in my life. i feel like a sudden desire to work with kids may be rash, if not a little crazy.
-finally, i think im going to be doing a wide array of things (i can't picture myself doing the same thing forever) so is it that important that i find something right now that is a perfect fit anyway?

here are my conclusions after spending hours on job websites:
-education is important, but it seems like work experience is more valued.
-it doesn't really matter what degrees/licenses you have. it varies by school/place.
-there are no jobs.

in the mean time, i am looking into:

1. school counseling (even though i hate counseling)
2. school psychology (even though i still dont know what the difference btw school counseling and school psychology is)
3. a master's in higher education (not quite sure what this is either)
4. occupational therapy ( i realized though that when i see someone in a wheel chair it ruins my day- sometimes week)
5. getting a master's in women's studies and being unemployed
6. quitting school and working a desk job

options for next semester:
1. stay in the program, stay at nexus (take two wmst courses + prac).
2. stay in the program, quit nexus (take two wmst courses + stats).
3. quit everything.

in other words, things are really looking up for me, ha.
